Celsion's liver cancer therapy fails to meet late-stage trial goal

(Reuters) - Celsion Corp said a late-stage study of its experimental liver cancer treatment ThermoDox did not meet the main goal of increasing patients' survival without their cancer worsening.

The study, named HEAT, was designed to show a 33 percent improvement in progression-free survival, Celsion said in a statement.

Celsion CEO Michael Tardugno said the company is conducting additional analyses of data from the trial to assess the future strategic value of ThermoDox.

Justin Timberlake collaborating with Tom Ford [Photos]

Justin Timberlake is teaming up with his favourite designer Tom Ford to create a collection of suits inspired by his new album.

The sharp-dressed singer is creating a line of shirts, ties and shoes with the former Gucci boss to accompany the release of his comeback album The 20/20 Experience in March.

The duo's clothes and accessories will feature in videos and visual campaigns for the album.

Ford worked with Timberlake on the snazzy outfits in the video for his latest song Suit & Tie, and also created the artwork for the single - which features a close-up of a Tom Ford tuxedo and bow-tie.

It's not the first time the stylish pair has collaborated - Ford made Timberlake's wedding outfit with input from the groom himself.

According to the research, published today (Jan. 29) in the journal Nature Communications, cats kill between 1.4 billion and 3.7 billion birds and between 6.9 billion and 20.7 billion small mammals, such as meadow voles and chipmunks.

Though it's hard to know exactly how many birds live in the United States, the staggering number of bird deaths may account for as much as 15 percent of the total bird population, said study co-author Pete Marra, an animal ecologist with the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute.

Staggering toll

Marra and his colleagues are looking at human-related causes for bird and wildlife deaths in the country, from windmills and glass windows to?pesticides.

But first, Marra and his team looked at the impact of the feline population, one of the biggest putative causes of bird demise in the country. ? ? ??

While past studies had used?critter cams?or owner reports to estimate the number of birds killed by cats, those studies were usually small and not applicable to the entire country, Marra told LiveScience.

For this broader analysis, the team first looked at all prior studies on bird deaths and estimated that around 84 million owned-cats live in the country, many of which are allowed outdoors. [In Photos: America's Favorite Pets]

"A lot of these cats may go outside and go to 10 different houses, but they go back to their house and cuddle up on Mr. Smith's lap at night," Marra said.

Based on an analysis of past studies, the researchers estimated that each of those felines killed between four and 18 birds a year, and between eight and 21 small mammals per year.

But the major scourges for wildlife were not those free-ranging, owned-cats, but instead feral and un-owned cats that survive on the streets. Each of those kitties ? and the team estimates between 30 million and 80 million of them live in the United States ? kills between 23 and 46 birds a year, and between 129 and 338 small mammals, Marra said.

And, it seems, the small rodents taken by felines aren't Norway rats or apartment vermin, but native?rodent species?such as meadow voles and chipmunks, he added.

No easy answers

One obvious step to reduce the mass wildlife death is to keep kitties indoors, Marra said.

Perhaps seeing their furry friends bring in a meadow vole or a cardinal will spur cat owners to say, "Listen,?Tabby, we're going to have a heart-to-heart talk about how much time you spend outside," he said.

Wild cats pose tougher questions, because capture and sterilization approaches have varying levels of success depending on the community, said Bruce Kornreich, a veterinarian at Cornell University's Feline Health Center, who was not involved in the study.

While keeping owned-cats indoors is the best way to benefit both kitties and wildlife, a?complete cat ban, like the one recently proposed in New Zealand, is probably not the answer, he said.

For one, it's not clear how?completely removing cats?from outdoors would affect the ecosystem.

"It may be in some cases that cats may also be keeping other species that may negatively impact bird and other small mammal populations in check," Kornreich told LiveScience.

Stay in control with MOGA?s Mobile Gaming System

The trouble with a lot of high-budget, console-style games on Android -- such as Modern Combat, N.O.V.A., Dead Space, and Wild Blood -- is the touch controls. They often must use a non-traditional control scheme that is awkward, at best. The very best mobile games are built specifically to utilize touch controls, but many of these bigger titles are forcibly shoving a round peg into a square hole. They may be able to squeeze it in there, but it's not pretty nor ideal.

Enter the MOGA Controller

Meanwhile, there have been engineers working to fix this problem, and they've come up with the most obvious solution. They built a Bluetooth-compatible gamepad that attaches to your phone. I recently obtained one of PowerA's MOGA Mobile Gaming System controllers to see what the fuss is all about, and whether or not a mobile gamepad could fix control issues with some of the aforementioned Android games.

My initial concern, of course, was that the MOGA would be too large for me to carry around. Most know that gaming works on its own clock, so gamers never know when the urge to play will strike. The size issue proved to be unfounded. The device is about the same size as my Galaxy Nexus, and so it fits easily on your pocket.

The MOGA is a pretty standard pad, containing two sticks, four face buttons and two triggers, making it two buttons and a directional pad short of an Xbox 360 controller.

Rather than go on about the device itself, though, I would rather discuss how it affects a few select games. Fortunately, the MOGA already supports a handful of titles that I had previously downloaded to my phone, and so I was able to test it extensively.

You have few buttons to deal with when playing most racing games on an Android phone. The games automatically push down the gas pedal, and you only have to deal with when to brake. To steer, you tilt your phone. The MOGA introduces a current-generation control scheme to Asphalt; you use the triggers to accelerate and brake, and the left stick to steer.

The difference between that scheme and the default is stark. With tilt, it's very easy to goof up because it's difficult for most people to hold their hands still, but the stick enables legitimate control precision. I should note, though, that using tilt to steer is not an awful experience, but playing with the MOGA feels more natural.

I've always wanted to like the N.O.V.A. series, as it features a pretty compelling story and production values that are unrivaled in the mobile. The recent addition of tilt aiming went a long way to making the experience gameplay palatable, but it still felt off, as this control scheme wasn?t as precise as it needed to be.

With the MOGA controller, N.O.V.A. 3 feels a lot more precise, but it still doesn't match a console experience due to the way the pad is designed. The sticks are simply not responsive enough to give you an ideal experience, but folks who are making the leap from Call of Duty to mobile shooters will find this far better than playing without a pad at all.

Gameloft's hack and slash title about Lancelot destroying demons was always good enough, as its controls weren't too complex. The main downside to playing Wild Blood with touch controls was rotating the camera angle. While playing, I often got caught up in hitting the wrong buttons while fighting and would end up with my camera facing away from the action. In addition, controlling the camera with touch is usually a bad experience anyway, as folks who play shooters on laptops will tell you forever.

With the MOGA, camera control is a cinch. Having physical buttons also improves the experience, because it means you're far less likely to accidentally press the wrong one when you're in battle. Being able to feel your buttons is an underappreciated aspect of physical controllers.

When I first played Gameloft's most recent Batman game, I wanted so badly to love it, because it is more or less a version of Rocksteady's console games Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. When I played, I kept struggling with the controls, and I couldn't force myself enjoy the experience. It was, to put it mildly, far too complex for touch controls.

With the MOGA, however, The Dark Knight Rises becomes an honest-to-god successor to those games. With physical controls, it is probably one of the best mobile games I have ever played. There can be no overselling of how drastically the MOGA improves The Dark Knight Rises, transforming the game from ambitious failure into an overwhelming triumph.

Better game controls comes with a catch

In order to use the MOGA controller, a game must natively support it. The good news? There are already plenty of games that do. Aside from most recent and mostly exceptional Gameloft games, you can also use it with the mobile versions of: the Grand Theft Auto series, the NEED for Speed series, Painkiller: Purgatory HD, Pocket Legends, Dead Space, Madden, Virtual Tennis?Challenge, Shadowgun, and more. The game currently comes pre-loaded with Sonic CD and PAC-Man. You'll definitely be able to get plenty of use out of it.

After using the MOGA for a week, I have a hard time imagining myself going back to touch controls for those games that have always deserved physical controls. Instead of fighting the touchscreen, I can now simply enjoy them the way they were truly intended. The MOGA controller, and other devices like it, turn your Android phone into a serious hardcore mobile gaming platform.

Professional training provides distinct objectives and goals that override preferences generated in the laboratory

Many simulation-based studies have been conducted, and theories developed, about the behaviors of financial market traders. New work by human factors/ergonomics (HF/E) researchers suggests that decision-making research on the behavior of traders conducted "in the wild" (i.e., real-world situations) can offer an alternative lens that extends laboratory insights and provokes new questions.

In their article in the Journal of Cognitive Engineering and Decision Making, "Understanding Preferences in Experience-Based Choice," authors Claire McAndrew (University College London) and Julie Gore (University of Surrey) examined the gap between the decision-making preferences of financial traders "in the wild" compared to laboratory experimentation where the probabilities of outcomes are known (prospect theory).

The authors conducted in-depth interviews about past financial trading decisions with eight traders to understand how decisions were made. All participants were employed by firms authorized and regulated by the UK Financial Services Authority and had, on average, 10.9 years of experience. The traders' decision-making processes were tracked step by step, focusing on their risk-seeking or risk-adverse behavior with respect to the probability of gains and losses.

"What we found is that professional training provides distinct objectives and goals that override preferences generated in the laboratory," said McAndrew. The study found that traders were risk adverse to three of the four scenarios compared with only two of four in the same scenarios suggested by prospect theory.

"Recognition of the interplay of the professional, task, and environment are clearly documented, which is often simply not possible in laboratory settings," said McAndrew. Whereas laboratory studies can be designed to emulate real-world conditions, trading markets are complicated and dynamic systems. The shifting, ill-defined, or competing issues that characterize trader environments are difficult to reproduce in laboratory studies. Many previous lab-based studies on financial traders could be augmented by "in the wild" examination.

This insight into real-world decision-making behavior has consequences for the design of instructional training for novices and has the potential to minimize costly mistakes. Changes in professional training might extend to other complex sociotechnical systems, such as aviation, the military, and nursing domains where experts, like stock traders, are similarly risk averse except when faced with large-probability gains.

'Barrier of bodies' trapped Brazil fire victims

SANTA MARIA, Brazil (AP) ? A fast-moving fire roared through a crowded, windowless nightclub in southern Brazil early Sunday, filling the air in seconds with flames and a thick, toxic smoke that killed more than 230 panicked partygoers, many of whom were caught in a stampede to escape.

Inspectors believe the blaze began when a band's small pyrotechnics show ignited foam sound insulating material on the ceiling, releasing a putrid haze that caused scores of university students to choke to death. Most victims died from smoke inhalation rather than burns in what appeared to be the world's deadliest nightclub fire in more than a decade.

Survivors and the police inspector Marcelo Arigony said security guards briefly tried to block people from exiting the club. Brazilian bars routinely make patrons pay their entire tab at the end of the night before they are allowed to leave.

But Arigony said the guards didn't appear to block fleeing patrons for long. "It was chaotic and it doesn't seem to have been done in bad faith because several security guards also died," he told The Associated Press.

Later, firefighters responding to the blaze initially had trouble getting inside the Kiss nightclub because "there was a barrier of bodies blocking the entrance," Guido Pedroso Melo, commander of the city's fire department, told the O Globo newspaper.

Authorities said band members who were on the stage when the fire broke out later talked with police and confirmed they used pyrotechnics during their show.

Police inspector Sandro Meinerz, who coordinated the investigation at the nightclub, said one band member died after escaping because he returned inside the burning building to save his accordion. The other band members escaped alive because they were the first to notice the fire.

"It was terrible inside ? it was like one of those films of the Holocaust, bodies piled atop one another," said Meinerz. "We had to use trucks to remove them. It took about six hours to take the bodies away."

Television images from Santa Maria, a university city of about 260,000 people, showed black smoke billowing out of the Kiss nightclub as shirtless young men who attended the university party joined firefighters using axes and sledgehammers to pound at the hot-pink exterior walls, trying to reach those trapped inside.

Bodies of the dead and injured were strewn in the street and panicked screams filled the air as medics tried to help. There was little to be done; officials said most of those who died were suffocated by smoke within minutes.

Within hours a community gym was a horror scene, with body after body lined up on the floor, partially covered with black plastic as family members identified kin.

Outside the gym police held up personal objects ? a black purse, a blue high-heeled shoe ? as people seeking information on loved ones crowded around, hoping not to recognize anything being shown them.

Teenagers sprinted from the scene after the fire began, desperately seeking help. Others carried injured and burned friends away in their arms. Many of the victims were under 20 years old, including some minors. About half of those killed were men, about half women.

The party was organized by students from several academic departments from the Federal University of Santa Maria. Such organized university parties are common throughout Brazil.

"There was so much smoke and fire, it was complete panic, and it took a long time for people to get out, there were so many dead," survivor Luana Santos Silva told the Globo TV network.

The fire spread so fast inside the packed club that firefighters and ambulances could do little to stop it, Silva said.

Another survivor, Michele Pereira, told the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper that she was near the stage when members of the band lit some sort of flare that started the conflagration.

"The band that was onstage began to use flares and, suddenly, they stopped the show and pointed them upward," she said. "At that point, the ceiling caught fire. It was really weak, but in a matter of seconds it spread."

Guitarist Rodrigo Martins told Radio Gaucha that the band, Gurizada Fandangueira, started playing at 2:15 a.m. "and we had played around five songs when I looked up and noticed the roof was burning."

"It might have happened because of the Sputnik, the machine we use to create a luminous effect with sparks. It's harmless, we never had any trouble with it," he said. "When the fire started, a guard passed us a fire extinguisher, the singer tried to use it but it wasn't working."

He confirmed that accordion player Danilo Jacques, 28, died, while the five other members made it out safely.

Police Maj. Cleberson Braida Bastianello said by telephone that the toll had risen to 233 with the death of a hospitalized victim. He said earlier that the death toll was likely made worse because the nightclub appeared to have just one exit through which patrons could exit.

Officials earlier counted 232 bodies that had been brought for identification to a gymnasium in Santa Maria, which is located at the southern tip of Brazil, near the borders with Argentina and Uruguay.

Federal Health Minister Alexandre Padhilha told a news conference that most of the 117 people treated in hospitals had been poisoned by gases they breathed during the fire. Only a few suffered serious burns, he said.

Brazil President Dilma Rousseff arrived to visit the injured after cutting short her trip to a Latin American-European summit in Chile.

"It is a tragedy for all of us," Rousseff said.

Most of the dead apparently were asphyxiated, according to Dr. Paulo Afonso Beltrame, a professor at the medical school of the Federal University of Santa Maria who went to the city's Caridade Hospital to help victims.

Beltrame said he was told the club had been filled far beyond its capacity.

Survivors, police and firefighters gave the same account of a band member setting the ceiling's soundproofing ablaze, he said.

"Large amounts of toxic smoke quickly filled the room, and I would say that at least 90 percent of the victims died of asphyxiation," Beltrame told the AP.

"The toxic smoke made people lose their sense of direction so they were unable to find their way to the exit. At least 50 bodies were found inside a bathroom. Apparently they confused the bathroom door with the exit door."

In the hospital, the doctor "saw desperate friends and relatives walking and running down the corridors looking for information," he said, calling it "one of the saddest scenes I have ever witnessed."

Rodrigo Moura, identified by the newspaper Diario de Santa Maria as a security guard at the club, said it was at its maximum capacity of between 1,000 and 2,000, and partygoers were pushing and shoving to escape.

Santa Maria Mayor Cezar Schirmer declared a 30-day mourning period, and Tarso Genro, the governor of the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, said officials were investigating the cause of the disaster.

The blaze was the deadliest in Brazil since at least 1961, when a fire that swept through a circus killed 503 people in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro.

Sunday's fire also appeared to be the worst at a nightclub since December 2000, when a welding accident reportedly set off a fire at a club in Luoyang, China, killing 309.

In 2004, at least 194 people died in a fire at an overcrowded nightclub in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Seven members of a band were sentenced to prison for starting the flames.

A blaze at the Lame Horse nightclub in Perm, Russia, killed 152 people in December 2009 after an indoor fireworks display ignited a plastic ceiling decorated with branches.

Similar circumstances led to a 2003 nightclub fire that killed 100 people in the United States. Pyrotechnics used as a stage prop by the 1980s rock band Great White set ablaze cheap soundproofing foam on the walls and ceiling of a Rhode Island music venue.

The band performing in Santa Maria, Gurizada Fandangueira, plays a driving mixture of local Brazilian country music styles. Guitarist Martin told Radio Gaucha the musicians are already seeing hostile messages.

"People on the social networks are saying we have to pay for what happened," he said. "I'm afraid there could be retaliation".

Dealing with Valentine's Day in a Long-Distance Relationship

With Valentine?s Day approaching and an unavoidable amount dinner specials and flower bouquet deals, some couples will be forced to share the romance hundred of miles away.

But for them, the distance is just part of the daily frustration that comes with being in a long-distance relationship.

?Making a long-distance relationship work depends greatly on who the people are. Each relationship has its own demands,? Dr. Bruce Derman, a relationship expert and clinical psychologist in California said.

Motivational speaker David Coleman, also known as ?The Dating Doctor,? admits that these relationships have a low probability of succeeding. From what he?s observed, two out of three don?t make it.

?People end up fighting because they have nothing new to talk about and they don?t really know what they?re saying to each other,? Coleman said, noting that it is sometimes difficult for humans to spend that much time apart and still have the same affection for each other.

Yet many are not letting the distance or the time apart deter them from a romantic evening.

?Communication is definitely key, as clich? as that is,? University of California ? Los Angeles junior Monica Shei said. ?But in a situation where time zones get to be a huge obstacle, a simple call or text makes all the difference.?

Shei has been with her boyfriend, Yan Man, a senior at Oxford University for three years.

Their secret? Planning their schedules the night before and calling each other every morning.

?Different time zones doesn?t really give us a lot of space to be spontaneous so we typically plan our schedules the night before and tell each other when we?re free to talk in order to avoid confusion or disappointment,? Shei said.

Man?s formula for success is much more straightforward: ?Try not to make Monica mad at me.?

Each relationship and situation is different, but according to experts, the key to success is effort.

?You have to put out that extra effort, that extra commitment,? Derman said. ?You can?t just have a natural flow, it?s not just ?I?ll just see you when it?s okay for me.? All get-togethers are a project that?s going to require a lot of planning. You have to be willing to meet that demand.?

In breast cancer metastasis, researchers identify possible drug target

Jan. 27, 2013 ? The spread of breast cancer to distant organs within the body, an event that often leads to death, appears in many cases to involve the loss of a key protein, according to UC San Francisco researchers, whose new discoveries point to possible targets for therapy.

In the January 27, 2013 online edition of Nature Cell Biology, UCSF scientists describe for the first time how the protein, known as GATA3 -- which is abnormal or absent in many cases of human breast cancer -- normally acts downstream in biochemical pathways to prevent the distant spread of cancer, an event called metastasis.

The discovery points to a biochemical control point that simultaneously holds in check several key events required for tumor cells to successfully spread.

"When GATA3 is present, it turns off many genes that are active in metastasis," said Zena Werb, PhD, a UCSF professor of anatomy who led the research. "We now have identified the molecular mechanisms involved."

The key finding of the new study is that GATA3 acts downstream biochemically to activate a molecule -- obscure until now -- called microRNA29b. MicroRNA29b in turn stops protein production from other genes that play vital roles in metastasis.

The absence or loss of GATA3 can free cancerous cells to break free from their defined roles and tethers within a tumor, to move away from the tumor mass, to induce cancer-promoting inflammation, and to stimulate the development of new blood vessels that can help spreading cancerous cells regrow as tumors in new locations.

"People knew that some of these genes were turned on in some cancers, but they did not know they were turned on because GATA3 and microRNA29b were turned off," Werb said. "If you have 20 genes that are becoming less active all at once due to microRNA29b, it could have a profound effect."

Working with mice, the researchers found that restoring microRNA29b to one of the most deadly types of breast cancer stopped metastasis. But the researchers also found that if they knocked out the microRNA29b, tumors spread even in the presence of GATA3, suggesting that microRNA29b can be the driver of metastasis.

In the mouse models of breast cancer studied by Werb's team, GATA3 normally restrains cancerous cells from breaking away from the main tumor and migrating to other organs.

It might be possible, Werb said, to develop drugs that inhibit breast cancer metastasis by re-activating these controls in cancerous cells that have lost the normal protein.

Many researchers who study early stages of cancer focus on abnormal genes and proteins that cause cells to expand their numbers rapidly, a hallmark of cancer.

However, the ability to spread to distant places and to eventually cause lethal complications requires not only cell division and tumor growth, but also changes in how the cancerous cell negotiates with its surroundings. This relationship must be altered to permit cancer to spread, according to earlier research findings by Werb and others.

"Many of the key processes in cancer that GATA3 suppresses take place outside the cell, in the surrounding environment," she said.

GATA3 is a master control for luminal cells, which line the milk-carrying ducts of the breast. In essence, GATA3 dictates the defining characteristics of a normal breast cell, Werb said.

Luminal breast cancers are the most common form of the disease, and the hormones estrogen and progesterone drive their growth. Loss of the normal GATA3 protein as luminal breast cancers evolve is associated with a greater risk of death, Werb said, and occurs in roughly 10 percent of luminal breast cancer cases.

But, along with many other proteins, GATA3 also is absent in "triple negative," breast cancers, which are more often fatal. Triple negative breast cancers, which disproportionately affect black women and younger women, do not depend on the hormones, nor do they require a third growth factor, called HER2.

Triple negative breast cancers, which account for roughly one-in-five breast cancers, have been more difficult to target successfully with newer treatments.

"The targeting we would like to do is to give back microRNA29b specifically to breast tumor cells to prevent metastasis," Werb said.

Barbara Walters, hospitalized after fall, recovering from chicken pox

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Celebrity newswoman Barbara Walters, who was hospitalized earlier this month after falling and injuring her head, is recovering from chicken pox, her co-host Whoopi Goldberg said Monday on "The View" talk show.

Goldberg said Walters, 83, who is in a New York hospital, has been told to rest and is not receiving visitors.

"You all know that she fell and cut her head 10 days ago and then was running a temperature," Goldberg said on the show.

"But it turns out it is all the result of a delayed childhood. Barbara has the chicken pox," Goldberg adding, saying Walters had never had the illness as a child.

Walters, 83, had been admitted to a Washington hospital during President Barack Obama's inauguration weekend after she fell and cut her head at the British ambassador's residence, her network ABC said.

Goldberg joked: "She's been told to rest, she's not allowed any visitors, and we're telling you, Barbara, no scratching."

ABC-TV said Walters, who created the long-running talk show after working decades as one of television news' best-known journalists, was transferred to a New York hospital late last week from Washington and was expected to be discharged soon.

Despite Goldberg's light-hearted remarks about the illness, usually associated with children, chicken pox can be serious for adults and the elderly, accompanied by more severe itching from hundreds of blisters.

Headaches, fever and chills, sometimes leading to pneumonia, can follow if the illness is not properly treated and precautions are not taken, or if the patient has a compromised immune system.

Leading Online Marketing Ideas To Expand Your Business

Posted by Sawyer Lunthmoreland on Jan 27, 2013 in Internet Marketing |

Internet marketing is the promotion of products over the internet. It easily brings together the creative aspects of the internet with the technical. This will bring a rise in sales to companies that put time into it. You will be reading many tips that will help you develop internet marketing for your company.

To create a quality newsletter, you need to write educational content. Your goal is to provide interesting information to your audience. Mention your products into your educational content, write informative texts about the products themselves, or explain how your product can have an educational use. Remember that people subscribed to your newsletter to learn something.

An important tip regarding Internet marketing is that if want to expand globally, you need to think globally. This is important because in order to best cater to people from other countries, you may wish to consider making changes to your site if it contains cultural sensitivities or humor intended solely for Americans.

It?s important that if you?re linking on someone else?s site for internet marketing that you make sure your link is a ?do-follow? link. You can click the page source of any link and look at the HTML. Unless it specifically says something to extent of ?do not follow," you know you?re safe here. Always be sure to check this.

Use forums to gain readers. Posting a teaser paragraph in several different forums can get people?s attention very quickly. The best way to do this is to find the forums that your target audiences frequent the most, and post it there. Make sure the paragraph is enticing and entertaining to gain the most.

Whether you?re allowing comments on your blog or website, you?re always going to run across a few jerks when running a business. Make sure you never reply to the buffoons of the world. Simply delete their comments and get on with your day. Do not appear childish by engaging in a back-and-forth with idiots.

When starting an online business, find a niche and become the authority on that product. For example, instead of selling shoes, sell extra wide shoes for men. While you narrow your playing field, you bring in traffic that has difficulty finding your product through other avenues, increasing your chances of making a sale. In addition, your business will be easier to find online because of your detailed key phrases. Try entering a search for ?shoes" and then enter a search for ?men?s extra wide shoes" and see what a difference a niche can make.

Internet marketing is often seen through banner ads, but these are not highly recommended. Do not invest much of your resources in banner ads if you want to successfully market your products or services online. Banner ads are increasingly being blocked with extensions in browsers, effectively deleting your ads from sites.

Creating a site map is very helpful for both search engines and visitors. It will help to find all of your pages, especially if you have a larger site. There are free tools that will help you create XML sitemaps, which are used by the major search engines to index webpages accurately.

Keeping yourself motivated is an important part of internet marketing and it is hard to keep your enthusiasm up if you keep jumping from project to project. Try sticking with just one project and stay with it until you see positive results. It may take some discipline, but it will be worth the effort.

When you concentrate on improving your internet marketing efforts, you are making excellent use of your valuable time. The marketplace accessible online is the largest in the world, and the potential customer base is incredibly vast. Reading articles like this one can pay off in a big way when you pick up useful new internet marketing tips.

Check out this additional training on Finding Profits Through Successful Internet Marketing Ideas. While you?re at it check out the many other resources that discuss Internet Marketing Strategies That Are Sure To Help Your Business Grow.

The Big Orange Press ? Should You FSBO Your Farragut Home?

for-sale-by-owner-signWhen it comes time to selling your Farragut home, you?re faced with the decision to hire a REALTOR? or ?sell your home yourself. For many sellers, for sale by owner (FSBO) ?can be very appealing. After all, you can save money by not paying a commission to a REALTOR?. So when it comes down to it, should you FSBO your Farragut home?

One important thing to consider is that statistically FSBO have lower success rates and prices compared to those that use a REALTOR?. According to recent surveys conducted by the National Association of REALTORS? (NAR), only 10% of all real estate transactions are FSBOs. The typical FSBO sold for $150,000, while homes that used a REALTOR? sold for $215,000. While you might have to pay a commission, you would be making more money in the long run even including the commission

Another thing to consider is that selling your Farragut home is more than just putting a sign in the yard. Selling a home requires a bit of work. An essential part of selling your home is making sure that it is effectively marketed to the widest possible audience. The more potential buyers that see your home, the better. Just putting an ad up on Craigslist or a FSBO website may not be the trick. Your home needs to be where the buyers are and a majority of buyers use the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) to find homes. In order to have your home listed on the MLS, you need to use a REALTOR? to sell your home. In addition to taking care of the marketing, you will have to field through phone calls from potential buyers, take care of setting up showings, and be present during showings.

Finally, selling your home isn?t always easy and requires some knowledge of the real estate industry, in order to protect your best interest. A REALTOR? can help assist you in pricing your home competitively, marketing your home, negotiating a contract, and answering any questions throughout the process. When it comes to selling your home, its ultimately your choice if you sell it yourself or use a REALTOR?. But, when you use a REALTOR?, you increase your odds of getting a better price and taking the work and stress off your shoulders.
